[hylafax-users] How to Config Modem?

Hi folks,
I'm in the process of installing HylaFAX 4.2.1_2 in my FreeBSD
5.4-RELEASE #0: system. I have a Multi-Tech Systems modem, model
MT5656ZDXV and hope to use the voice function as soon as I sucessfully
install the regular fax/data setup.

Section 6.1 of the on-line instruction suggests you create the modem
config file prior to running faxaddmodem and provides templates to
facilitate. The instructions continue:

"The config file contains all of the unique settings for a faxmodem.
There are "default" settings built-into HylaFAX, but chances are good
that all of these "defaults" are not appropriate or optimal for your
particular faxmodem's make, model, or firmware revision. There are many
possible differences between one faxmodem and another, and in order to
properly create a config file you will need your faxmodem's AT and AT+F
command set. These should be in the manual that [hopefully] came with
your faxmodem."

First, are the "default" settings the settings found in the template?
Secondly, does it suggests you compare each setting to the AT and AT+F
settings found in your modem's manual?

I came across a modem config file for my modem (non-voice however) which
might prove helpful but I'm also open to any hints members of this list
care to offer.

Pls make no assumptions, I may be way in over my head with this project
but it seems worthwhile starting here. I also intend to use SAMBA to
share the fax with an XP box and assume I should also be able to share
it with another FreeBSD box.

Thnx.
Bob Perry
