And I think I know why, If I connect to the modem using minicom, and
dial the modem. The modem sounds and lights blink and I can hear it
ring.

But the modem does not send "RING" to my screen, it responds to my AT
commands just fine, so I know minicom has a connection with the modem,
the modem just never sends a "RING" when someone call's.
