I used to run a USR MP/8 modem bank (courier V.everything modems,
basically) and had similar issues when sending in class 1. Although the
prevailing wisdom is to run the modems in class 1, I found that class 2.0
worked better for me at least for reliability in sending. You might try it
and see if it helps you.
