This log shows a correctly functioning adaptive answer for an incoming data
call. Was the incoming call actually a fax call? If so then you have
definitely got a problem with the modem hardware and should contact the modem
manufacturer. On sending, hylafax shouldn't execute anything! I don't see
how it is possible your getty-link(B.T.W. is that a sym-link to mgetty?)
program could be executed when you send a fax. Did you really mean to say
receiving? Or perhaps the modem is still stuck in data mode?
At any rate,
You can try commenting out the line: "AdaptiveAnswer: yes" to see if
that does anything. Although I think it is harmless to have this turned on,
this parameter is mainly used when you don't have or don't use the modem's
adaptive answer capability which is turned on with AT+FAA.
