I have since tried to send a message to a HP Officejet series 600 fax -
which logs the transmission as:

Station ID			Pages           Status
NothingSetup            1               Error: Communication error


here are some log excerpts from hylafax (for this side of the converation):

         Dials: 0 (consecutive failed calls to destination)
         Calls: 3 (total phone calls placed)
         Pages: 0 (pages transmitted)
      TotPages: 1 (total pages to transmit)
      Attempts: 3 (attempts to send current page)
        Dirnum: 0 (directory of next page to send)

This HDLC frame is either supposed to be NSF, CSI, or DIS (commonly).
Try configuring your "Station Identification" on your Okifax first, and
then try again.
