[hylafax-users] Hylafax 4.1.5 and 2-D MR Wierdness
Hi all,
I have a problem that I can't figure out involving
sending Group 4 TIF files with Hylafax.
I have a RH 7.0 system running Hylafax 4.1.1 with a
Best V.92 faxmodem
(ROCKWELL RC288DPi chipset). This system (AKA
Paddles) is the little engine that
could. It's a backup nameserver and a faxserver
that's sent literally thousands of faxes
over the past 2 years. It's been 100% reliable,
been through a fire, sat in two inches of
water from fire hoses and after drying out
continues just to putt a long taking what ever
you throw at it. When it finally dies, I am having
it bronzed and placed in the lobby of
our office. :)
Since our business is expanding, I've built an
additional faxserver with more serial ports
to handle the volume of faxes we receive and
send.
We store thousands and thousands of documents in
Group 4 TIF format that may need
to be faxed to various places. Paddles has done a
great job sending them out. So going
with what works, on the system I built, I used RH
7.3, Hylafax 4.1.5, and a Best V.92
for testing.
4.1.5 installed great, came up running and
generated the same config.ttyS0 file that
4.1.1 generated on Paddles. For some reason though,
this system (Monkey) is unable
to send a Group 4 TIF file. It can send PDFs, PS
and anything else except for the
one file type I really need.
When I try to send a file that is in G4 format, I
get the following error:
------------------
Your facsimile job to 9448422 was rejected
because:
docq/doc29.ps.13: Warning, unknown field with tag
32934 (0x80a6) ignored.
Unexpected failure converting TIFF document; the
command
/usr/bin/tiffcp -i -c g3:2d -f lsb2msb -r
9999 docq/doc29.ps.13 docq/doc29.ps;41
failed with exit status
9. This conversion was done because:
Document requires
reformatting, not in Group 3 format.
Document requires reformatting, client
is incapable of receiving 2DMR
data.
------------------
This leads me to believe that the modem can't
handle 2-D MR data. However,
if I send the same file from Paddles to Monkey,
Monkey is able to receive in
2-D MR format with no problem. Paddles is able to
send in 2-D MR format also
and it's the same modem type.
So my questions is does anyone know what is going
on here? I've included some
additional log entries that may shed some light on
this.
Item 1 and Item 2 show that both Paddles and Monkey
are running FaxGetty and
the modem string returned is the same for both.
Shouldn't this mean it's the same
type of modem?
Item 3 shows the command I am using from Paddles to
send a G4 TIF as a fax to
Monkey.
Item 4 is the log entry showing Monkey receiving
the fax as 2-D MR data just fine.
Item 5 shows what happens when I use try and use
the exact same command in
Item 3 on Monkey to send the same TIF file to
Paddles. Note that in Item 5, the
errors occur during conversion and the modem is
never accessed as far as I can
tell.
This has got me stumped! Any help
appreciated!
Mike
