I presume you are using faxsend for your mail gateway. I was very frustrated with faxsend and ended up writing my own perl script to glue between sendfax and postfix (but it can equally work with any front-end mta). Anyway, I need to polish it up to add support for various plugins, but otherwise if people are interested in using it as an alternative to faxsend, let me know and I could post it.
