[hylafax-users] Hylafax problems - from scratch
Running Mandrake 8.2, kde 2.2.2, CUPS system.
After starting over from scratch with hylafax, I ran through faxmodem,
faxaddmodem, and then started faxgetty and hylafax. I then tried to send a
fax again (a simple text file from within kwrite). Nothing appears to have
happened again. No send, no dialtone (I have the speaker set on), nothing.
In /var/log/messages is:
Aug 13 12:28:43 lapdog FaxGetty[2755]: OPEN /dev/modem
Aug 13 12:28:48 lapdog FaxGetty[2755]: MODEM LT V.90 DATA+FAX MODEM VERSION
6.00 LT V.90 Data+Fax Modem Version 6.00/
Aug 13 12:28:54 lapdog FaxGetty[2755]: ANSWER: Can not lock modem device

Kdeprintfax (started when I "Send to fax" when printing) produces this log:
Sending to fax using: /usr/bin/sendfax -h 'localhost' -d 'Fax
Recipient'@'5551212' -x 'school' -c 'test fax message' -f 'praedor'
/home/praedor/.kde/tmp-lapdog.ravenhome.net/kdeprint_4d2MPRw
/bin/bash: -c: line 1: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `''
/bin/bash: -c: line 2: syntax error: unexpected end of file
My printer is stalled out and I have to kill the printjob manually. Why is
it that they system "can not lock modem device"? Does it really need to? Is
there a way to jig around this? I want/need to send a fax regardless of
whether the system wants to lock the modem.
