Your correct..  There are other alternative for Caller-ID box
functionality, but they don't work with Hylafax. If I use a CID application
I loose fax capability on my modem. If I use Hylafax, I loose CID
functionality. In order for this "much better" solution to work, I need an
additional  cid modem and an additional serial port on my computer.

I think a "much better" solution to using one or the other is to have
faxgetty who already has all the information make it available somehow.
Perhaps through different logging or by passing the info to a
"egetty/vgetty" or  sometype of "cidgetty" process.
