Plase, which version of mgetty ? (I´m working with Suse)
(find it with: rpm -qa | grep mgetty)
You don´t find it? -> type "locate mgetty" an guess i.

Did I understand you right: now you can dial in
your linux-maschine from another host by modem
and setup a ppp-IP-connection
AND (not parallel, of course) receive and send
faxes on demand ?? And you don´t need faxgetty ?

Where do you start mgetty? With normal startup-
scripts in /etc/rc.d/init.d/??? (e.g. mgetty)
(BTW: faxgetty on my maschine has to be started in
inittab by
   mo:23:respawn:/usr/lib/fax/faxgetty /dev/ttyS1)

If you can build a ppp-IP-connection, does mgetty do
this with the configuration you described ? Or
are there other configuration files necessary ?
