Hi, First encountered this about a year ago when installing hfax4.0pl2 on a Slackware 3.5 system. FAQ Q22 solved the problem on that occasion. Recap: Build & install from source, start hfaxd, faxq & faxgetty. Everything looks good. Send a test fax (sendfax -n -dXXXXX /etc/passwd) and 2nd faxq process appears, hogs CPU until killed. Fax not sent. FAQ Q22 sez edit config.site to change ORDONLY to ORDWR against a FIFO line (check hylafax.org for details), rebuild & reinstall. This did the trick. Encountered same symptoms this week: Slackware 4.0 (kernel 2.2.6, gcc 2.7.2.3) hfaxv4.1beta2 Followed FAQ Q22 procedure (config.site indicates attempt to address problem), but it didn't work. After several re-installs, replaced faxq binary with one built on system described at top (Slack 3.5, kernel 2.0.34, hfaxv4.0pl2) and BINGO! it works. However, I suspect that problems will arise when the system goes live and starts sending hundreds of faxes per day. I'm amazed that a binary created by egcs (aka gcc 2.8, as used by Slack 3.5) runs in the Slack 4.0 environment. Any ideas? Best Regards, Mark Wilson P. Kay Associates Ltd.
