flexfax: faxq going down after send failed

Hi folks,

HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.0pl1
Solaris 2.4
2 Multitech MT1432 BG
1 Multitech ZDX 56k

my problem is the faxq-deamon just stops working after trying to send a
fax to
a destination without a fax:
syslog:
Jul 30 11:51:01 Zentra2 FaxSend[1920]: SEND FAX: JOB 53 DEST 07117880592

Jul 30 11:52:15 Zentra2 FaxSend[1920]: SEND FAILED: Ring detect without
successful handshake

trying to kill the job gives:
460 Failed to kill job 53: Unable to open scheduler FIFO: No such device
or address.

ls -l /var/spool/fax gives
prw-------   1 uucp     uucp           0 Jul 30 11:54 FIFO
prw-------   1 uucp     uucp           0 Jul 27 13:09 FIFO.cua_0
prw-------   1 uucp     uucp           0 Jul 29 11:16 FIFO.cua_1
prw-------   1 uucp     uucp           0 Jul 28 13:29 FIFO.cua_6
(uucp and fax are identical on my system)

when trying to kill the job with faxrm syslog says:
Jul 30 11:53:20 Zentra2 FaxSend[1953]: CAUGHT SIGNAL 15

This looks very strange to me, when you ring a number that is "just
busy" the
Scheduler continues working.
Are the any configurable parameters for "error severeness"
