normal and proper end of connection

I'm using HylaFAX v4.0pl2 on Solaris 2.6/ultra 60 using a multitech
5634zbav modem (lucent chipset).

I just started getting an error with one particular target machine in
which the fax seems to go through OK, but hylafax thinks it failed and
requeues it for a later resend, with the status from faxstat -s saying
"Normal and proper end of "

Can any one tell me what could cause that or how to try to fix it?

P.S. the tail end of the log from this fax is below:

----------------
Jul 01 16:06:31.77: [ 1393]: SEND end page
Jul 01 16:06:47.30: [ 1393]: --> [7:+FPTS:1]
Jul 01 16:06:48.54: [ 1393]: --> [7:+FHNG:0]
Jul 01 16:06:48.54: [ 1393]: REMOTE HANGUP: Normal and proper end of connection (code 0)
Jul 01 16:06:49.82: [ 1393]: --> [2:OK]
Jul 01 16:06:49.82: [ 1393]: <-- [5:ATH0\r]
Jul 01 16:06:49.92: [ 1393]: --> [2:OK]
Jul 01 16:06:49.92: [ 1393]: SESSION END
----------------

Note that a different fax to a different number after that went fine,
did not have any problems, terminated with a reasonable remote hangup,
and was not requeued:

Jul 01 16:31:35.78: [ 1674]: <-- [5:ATH0\r]
Jul 01 16:31:35.88: [ 1674]: --> [7:+FHNG:2]
Jul 01 16:31:35.88: [ 1674]: REMOTE HANGUP: Call aborted,  from +FK or <CAN> (code 2)
Jul 01 16:31:37.16: [ 1674]: --> [2:OK]
Jul 01 16:31:37.16: [ 1674]: SESSION END
