You can do this quite easily with my printing interface to Hylafax
together with any X-Hylafax frontend that supports a parameter of the
name of the file to be faxed on the commandline (eg. ksendfax). 

Using my script you simply print from any application to (a new) printer
called eg fax and then your X-frontend will open automatically asking
you for the faxnumber and doing the rest for you. Thats all.

In order to install it you will need root privileges in order to
establish a new printer (your fax printer) on your system.
