flexfax: Unspecified Transmit Phase B error;

Hello everybody,
        I have recently installed Hylafax v4.0pl1-022 under RedHat Linux
5.0 with US Robotics Sportster 33.6 Fax Modem. While sending a fax I get

a "Unspecified Transmit Phase B error (code 20)" error. I have noticed
this error quite a few times in the mailing list archives.

        According to the suggestions I configured the modem for 9600bps
with xonxoff flow control and Class2.0. But that did not work too.
        With Class1, 9600bps and xonxoff flow control it did not even
connect to the modem.
