This has never, to my knowledge, been described as a workaround.  The only
workaround retaining Class 2.0 appears to be changing the FNR command, and
this only works for some versions of the firmware.

The trace is for Class 2.0, so we can't tell why it failed in Class 1, 
unless it never entered class 1.
