Problems with MPS (more pages, same document)

Hello there,

I'm using the latest HylaFax (hylafax-v4.0pl1) on a Linux 2.0.27 box
together with a Zyxel 1496EG+ and have problems with sending
multi-page documents to some other fax machines. Here's a part
of the debug output:

Oct 06 15:13:06.12: [12876]: SEND begin page
Oct 06 15:13:44.59: [12876]: SENT 46502 bytes of data
Oct 06 15:13:44.59: [12876]: SEND 1D RTC
Oct 06 15:13:44.59: [12876]: SEND end page
Oct 06 15:13:44.59: [12876]: SEND send MPS (more pages, same document)
Oct 06 15:14:00.28: [12876]: --> [5:ERROR]
Oct 06 15:14:00.28: [12876]: SEND recv RTN (retrain negative)
Oct 06 15:14:00.28: [12876]: <-- [7:AT+FDT\r]
Oct 06 15:14:06.11: [12876]: --> [20:+FCS:1,3,0,2,0,0,0,3]
Oct 06 15:14:06.11: [12876]: --> [7:CONNECT]
Oct 06 15:14:06.11: [12876]: SEND begin page
Oct 06 15:14:44.58: [12876]: SENT 46502 bytes of data
Oct 06 15:14:44.58: [12876]: SEND 1D RTC
Oct 06 15:14:44.58: [12876]: SEND end page
Oct 06 15:14:44.58: [12876]: SEND send MPS (more pages, same document)
Oct 06 15:15:00.25: [12876]: --> [5:ERROR]
Oct 06 15:15:00.25: [12876]: SEND recv RTN (retrain negative)

I.e, Hylafax sends the first page, send MPS, gets an error message
back and retransmits the same page, resulting in the same error
again. And so on. As you can imagine, users with such fax machines
complain about getting the same page 9 times (3 times for each trial).
Even worse, the first page is a cover page only, so these users
never see the real message text.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I'm not subscribed
to list, so please mail me directly!

With many thanks in advance,
Andy
