I've never tried it, started with slackware, and it's been RHEL and Centos since. 
The occasional Ubuntu now and then but I don't know it much.

I downloaded debian-506-i386-CD-1.iso and tried installing it as a VM on ESX and all I get is PXE boot so will need to read some docs I guess.
