Re: [hylafax-users] Some like it PDF, others like it TIFF

Hello,

I don’t know if my usage would work in your case since I don’t employ AvantFAX – but here is what I’ve done.

I  use ncftpput in simple scripts on my HylaFAX server to copy the .pdf files (would work fine for .tif files as well of course) from HylaFAX directly to ftp folders on a Windows server.  The Windows ftp server only allows connections from the HylaFAX server.

I’ve created a specific user account in Windows Active Directory that is used to write the files to the ftp folders – and that is all this user account has permissions to do.  The user account and password is used in the script files on the HylaFAX server when ncftpput is invoked (not ideal, but not a big deal in my situation).

The ftp folders are then shared / mapped as network drives with appropriate user permissions in Windows.

You may be wanting a solution that works from AvantFAX – unfortunately I don’t have any help for you there.

Just my two cents.

Thanks,

Greg

Subject: [hylafax-users] Some like it PDF, others like it TIFF

Hi all,

Here's the situation...  we have a hylafax + avantfax server that is running quite nicely (thank you, Lee Howard), but now the end user has more complex needs...

At present, all faxes are converted to PDF and emailed to the appropriate person.

Needs:

Option 1: We need to have ONE of the groups (DIDs in this case) copy the TIF version of the incoming fax into a drive on a Windows server on the same LAN.

Option 2: We need to have ONE of the groups (DIDs in this case) send the emailed fax as a TIF version while keeping all other faxes as PDFs for emailing.

Suggestions?

Thanks!
