Re: [hylafax-users] Finding out what modem was used when sending

All,

I was looking at the files in the doneq and noticed that nowhere does it
show what modem was use to send a fax. I would think that would be useful
information to have.

Does the latest version of Hylafax return the modem use in the doneq? If
not I'd like to see it added.

John

John, on every instance of faxgetty, I have a log entry in my syslog showing what tty was activated. Here is a snippit:

Sep 30 09:42:23 maplepark FaxSend[3848]: MODEM LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U INTERNAL DATA/FAX/VOICE MODEM VERSION 2.32U LT V.92 1.0 MT5634ZPX-PCI-U Internal Data/Fax/Voice Modem Version 2.32u/

Sep 30 09:42:23 maplepark FaxSend[3848]: SEND FAX: JOB 30 DEST 3149661886 COMMID 000000580 DEVICE '/dev/ttyS1' FROM 'David Forrest <drf@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>' USER drf

Sep 30 09:43:26 maplepark FaxSend[3848]: SEND FAILED: JOB 30 DEST 3149661886 ERR No carrier detected {E002}

This, of course, is a failed send (just tried for this illustration) but a simple scripting could pull out the info you need.

A look at your log file using:
[root@maplepark:~]#grep 'SEND FAX.*DEVICE' /var/log/messages
should expose the messages you want. YMMV with log formats and directory though.
