Hi Brian,

iaxmodem only does audio fax using IAX as transport protocol.

If you need T.38 with Hylafax you need to make t38modem.
It supports T.38 and T.30 using SIP as transport protocol.
But only the newest trunk version (it uses spandsp fax functions) together with the newest trunk of OPAL and PTLIB.

Asterisk doesn't do T.38 at all (for v1.4 I'm sure, but I don't know about v1.6). You need to specify T.38 pass trough.

Has anyone gotten Hylafax to talk to Asterisk and have Asterisk send out T38? I've got IAXModem and Asterisk installed, but am having trouble figuring out how to set them up...

One person on an IAXModem list said that it was impossible because IAX only does audio. That seems strange to me, because at least you should be able to get Asterisk to convert the audio into T38 when it sends it out...

I've looked through the Asterisk docs and haven't found anything useful.
