[hylafax-users] A modem stops receiving faxes suddenly

Hi all,

I’m having a problem! One of the three external modems suddenly stop working. So I need to restart it (turn off and turn on), and also restart the faxgetty, so it starts working again.

Hylafax is installed in Ubuntu 8.04. Both modems are externals (Multitech MT5634ZBA). One of them is plugged on the standard port (ttyS0) and the other two in a Serial Multiport (DSERIAL-PCI, 2 ports) board (ttyS1 and ttyS2). Every week, the modem plugged in the ttyS1 stop working. I tried to invert the modems of the ttyS1 and ttyS2, and the problem still happens in the ttyS1. Follow the configuration:

[   20.345351] console [tty0] enabled

[   22.379997] serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A

[   22.380627] 00:09: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A

[   22.381260] 0000:03:07.0: ttyS1 at I/O 0xdf00 (irq = 16) is a 16550A

[   22.381447] 0000:03:07.1: ttyS2 at I/O 0xde00 (irq = 16) is a 16550A

[   44.034035] audit(1236706738.831:2): type=1503 operation="inode_permission" requested_mask="a::" denied_mask="a::" name="/dev/tty" pid=5279 profile="" namespace="default"

I’d like to know if there is any command using the set_multiport that may solve the problem? If there is no solution, which serial multiport is recommended?!

Thanks, (sorry my english)

Marcelo
