[hylafax-users] Repeatedly getting "Can not lock modem device" message.

Hi all!
I was having trouble receiving faxes.


When i "watch" the "faxstat" , it keeps on cycling it's status between these two blocks.

Faxstat keeps changing it's status between these two block , at an interval of 30 seconds... 

[root@fc-7 ~]#  faxstat
HylaFAX scheduler on fc-7.lanfax.net: Running
Modem ttySL0 (XXXX5419): Running and idle

[root@fc-7 ~]#  faxstat
HylaFAX scheduler on fc-7.lanfax.net: Running
Modem ttySL0 (XXXX5419): Waiting for modem to come free



While it was changing it's status "/var/log/messages" also generate "Can not lock modem device" error messages every 25 to 30 seconds 

Feb  4 17:05:21 fc-7 FaxGetty[2593]: ANSWER: Can not lock modem device
Feb  4 17:05:22 fc-7 FaxGetty[2629]: MODEM /DEV/SLAMR0 MODEMAP DRIVER SmartLink Soft Modem/



Any Ideas ??? May be the fax modem is not generating the fax tone ... What 

Observations recorded so far.... 
1. faxgetty is running with it's Parent PID  1. 
2. inittab entry has this entry
     t2:2345:respawn:/usr/sbin/faxgetty  ttySL0  (not using /dev/ttySL0)
3. able to dial (Voice) in and out ... 
4. Class 1 Modem
