Re: [hylafax-users] Problem with "MODEM Command error" / "No response to MPS repeated 3 tries"

I have built a Fedora 9 server running HylaFAX (tm) Version 5.2.8
using three Dlink DFM-562IS modems (hsfmodem-7.68.00.14 full) and the
Linuxant driver
Currently it is connected to a PABX.
Send and receive of single page faxes works well.
Receive of 3 page fax from an old Ricoh machine also works
Receive of 3 page fax from an old Hylafax server also works
Send of a 3 page pdf from an old Hylafax server to a PC running MS fax
also works.
But Send of a 3 page pdf from the new Hylafax server to a PC running
MS fax fails, but sometimes the first page is received.
I see that the log shows a "MODEM Command error" and that these posts
seem relevant:
http://www.hylafax.org/archive/2006-03/msg00323.php, and
http://www.hylafax.org/archive/2006-05/msg00262.php
Before I buy different modems can I just check if there is something
else I can try?
Dec 30 11:42:05.32: [ 2868]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
Dec 30 11:42:05.47: [ 2868]: --> [7:CONNECT]
Dec 30 11:42:05.59: [ 2868]: --> [2:10 03]
Dec 30 11:42:05.59: [ 2868]: --> [5:ERROR]
This sequence above is repeated constantly throughout the log files that
you sent and illustrates that the problem is very likely with the Dlink
modem being unable to demodulate the V.21 HDLC MCF message being sent by
the receiver.
The fact that it works from the old system (I presume a different modem)
seems to add further evidence that the problem is with the Dlink.
Actually, since you're using a software modem the issue isn't so much
with the hardware as it is with the Linuxant driver. This is not
surprising. There have been numerous reports of unreliable fax support
with the Linuxant drivers.
Thanks,
Lee.
