as "group id" you mean "system group id" - by using "chown $user:$group $FILE".

Oh, i see.

However, this does not help in my case.
I have hylafax users in LDAP, so they do not have system account, therefore no group ID.
So in this case, if such user does "faxstat -r" HFAXD will list all received documents.

So i guess, i'll have to disable "faxstat -r " listing completely with RecvqProtection: 0400.
Better allow users to ses nothing, than to see all (other user's) documents.

Yes, faxgetty, but no, the administrator would need to configure it 
(script it) in to FaxDispatch or something.
