There are a few of those, that rely on one of the following telco services: - Distinctive Ring - Call Waiting - Two lines And a few more that require you to plug the various devices into them. They pretty much all work, but none of them are magical, and each one has situations they don't handle well. Many modems can handle "distinctive ring," and a few can handle being voice answering systems (which act like answering machines, they can't then ring the phone.) There's the venerable "Catch a Call," which leverages call waiting: http://www.amazon.com/Internet-Phone-Line-Sharing-Device/dp/B000JGAE4M And then there are the dedicated devices like these: http://www.faxswitch.com/fax_device.php But can it be done without hardware or telco services? I think it was sort of like a Y splitter. > I don't think they worked very well, but it's worth a try if you could > find one. > > David ____________________ HylaFAX(tm) Users Mailing List _______________________ To subscribe/unsubscribe, click http://lists.hylafax.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi On UNIX: mail -s unsubscribe hylafax-users-request@xxxxxxxxxxx < /dev/null *To learn about commercial HylaFAX(tm) support, mail sales@xxxxxxxxx*
