Here is a test with the exact times I ran them.
NOTE: Sydney/Australia GMT +11:00

neil@linux:~$ date +%c;sendfax -d 11111111  /tmp/output.pdf
Sun 12 Oct 2008 18:11:50 EST
request id is 21 (group id 21) for host localhost (1 file)
neil@linux:~$ date +%c;faxstat -s
Sun 12 Oct 2008 18:11:57 EST
HylaFAX scheduler on linux: Running

JID  Pri S  Owner Number       Pages Dials     TTS Status
21   127 W   neil 11111111      0:0   0:12
neil@linux:~$ date +%c;faxstat -s
