Re: [hylafax-users] Issue when Hylafax sits idle for a few days

Hello,

try increasing verbosity of faxq process by adding "ServerTracing: 0xfffff" to etc/config file (see hylafax-config manpage)
faxq ussualy logs into syslog's daemon facility, so have a look at /var/log/messages or /var/log/daemon

If server is idle, send it a fax and watch the log - with hier verbosity, it shows what is doing.

Also there is posibillity to, instead of restarting faxserver, make it busy :
For example by sendig fax to some nonexistent number and setting only 1 attempt ->
"faxstat -n -N -T 1 -t 1 -d 555 test.pdf"
in cron script every hour or two.

Hope this helps

Hello All,

I've have a running Hylafax system working with AvantFax. Everything
works well but the problem I have is when the server stands idle for a
few days I can no longer receive or send faxes. When I run faxstat it
comes back and says idle as expected. When I try to send a fax it
lists the outgoing fax in the que but it never gets sent until I
restart the server with service hylafax restart and then it sends it
right away. I'm not sure what's causing this or where to look for a
log message as dmesg returned nothing. Right now I just set a cron job
to restart the server everyday. Can someone point me in the right
direction?
