I'm wondering if "time" hylafax passes to notify script when job is sent correctly is "real" connection time or "real" + time_needed_to_start_job? According to longs from our system it seems that time received from Hylafax is almost 20 sec bigger then time from PBX

If you're looking for completely accurate time accounting for call connect time you cannot trust the "time" given in HylaFAX xferfaxlogging because the modem (and thus HylaFAX) is usually unaware of the exact time when a call is answered or disconnected. HylaFAX gives "modem time off hook" as the stated job time. So, it's not surprising that you'll see discrepancies between HylaFAX and your phone system with regards to on-line time.

HylaFAX intentionally is liberal about the amount of time it calculates for job time. So the actual time used between call answer and call hangup is always going to be less than or equal to the time reported by HylaFAX as "job time".

If you have to bill based on xferfaxlog time information then you can either subtract the average time overage from the given time amount, or you can merely obligate your customers to pay for the time overage and make it clear that the time is calculated as "modem time off hook" and is not "actual call connect time".

Thanks,

Lee.
