Update: Was not using VOIP, I am using Centrex POTS lines. Had our lines checked for noise. Came back clear. I decided to replace one of the modems. So I bought a Multitech MT5634ZPX PCI internal modem. Replaced the modem that gets the most traffic and most errors. Not a single problem in the 3 days since I swapped to the new modem. On a side note: I decided to open a support case with US Robotics. They say they don't support Linux or my modems because they are so old. To me they are alienating some of the only people (fax server users) who would possibly buy their products!! Not sure, why any company would take that route, but anyway. Anyone who may be reading this I recommend not wasting your time or money on 3com / US Robotics modems for faxing. They don't work right all the time and have no support. -Brad Stevens -----Original Message----- From: hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:hylafax-users-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Lee Howard Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2008 12:47 AM To: Brad Stevens Cc: hylafax-users@xxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [hylafax-users] T.30 T2 Timeout (redux) Brad Stevens wrote: > Sep 10 16:03:49.87: [ 8592]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r] > > Sep 10 16:03:51.48: [ 8592]: --> [7:CONNECT] > > Sep 10 16:03:51.65: [ 8592]: --> [9:45 96 1C F1 78 6B 46 10 03] > > Sep 10 16:03:51.66: [ 8592]: --> [5:ERROR] > > Sep 10 16:03:51.66: [ 8592]: MODEM Command error > > Sep 10 16:03:51.66: [ 8592]: FCS error > If you see this kind of thing happen frequently/regularly with many different senders, including the many PPR signals, then it's a strong indicator that the audio quality on your phone line is bad. Have the phone company take a look. Don't use VoIP. Make sure the sender isn't using VoIP, either.
