Search the archives of this list for fax recommendations. External modems are convenient to see whats going on (flashy lights) and you can reset the modem without resetting the computer. For better fax performance a dedicated fax board like a Mainpine IQ Express are a big help. They cost more but work better. For multiline faxing there isn’t anything better for analog lines.

hi Siri,
Now i am installing hylafax server in my PC (redhat5.0) but i meet some problem:fist of all The OS doesn't detecet my intern modem and when i tape probemodem
i get a message like this:
"enable to dededuce DTE-DCE speed".
Some of my friend told me that an external modem is better.
What you think?
