Re: [hylafax-users] strange situation receiving faxes

hi lee!

i figured out that all the faxes that send to the hylafax server without problems are computer faxes and the one that produce errors are real hardware faxes. can someone confirm this (using a class 2.0 config)??

It looks to me like the USR modem crashed. This is not surprising. You should be using Class 1 anyway, with USR.

and here is the log of a failed elsa session:

Jun 03 21:42:39.65: [ 504]: --> [2:OK]

This indicates either a line condition problem or an incompatibility between the sender's V.29 modulator and the modem's V.29 demodulator. Using Class 1 (if possible) could help.

ok, thats what i also suggest (see aboce). i now use a elsa microlink 56k basic modem - can i use the default class1 config? i know that faxaddmodem offers me a class1 setup - should i use these defaults or do i have to modify these settings?
this weekend i will try a class1 config.

please remember also the behaviour of the canon b820 fax when sending the first 2 pages faulty:

first page is started with 9600 bit/s (startspeed set in the fax by me to be sure that the pages are sent ok although there is some line disortion) then it switches down to 7200 bit/s and the pages that are sent ok with 4800 bit/s.

This further concludes that either there is a line noise condition or that there is a V.29 incompatibility.

Thanks,

Lee.

thx wolfgang
