The "D3" and "D7" and "D96" are probably artifacts of quoted-printable 
encoding of the notification mail gone sour.

The AT+FRH=3/CONNECT/ERROR situation can be normal, but given that 
you're using Linuxant... I can't help but think that's the problem.  I 
just haven't heard stellar fax reports from Linuxant users.
