I have been using this modem for some time. The chip is Lucent (1673TV8 28RDD 9944S 3148355). It is configured as Class 1 modem. There is no problem in receiving. But, it often skip scan lines when sending. Interestingly, when it skips, it insists on skipping almost the same lines. No errors in any log file.

Well, first of all realize that this is a non-ECM session, so perfect copy quality cannot be guaranteed. The sender needs to support ECM to get guaranteed perfect copy quality.

However, the problem is most likely due to some consistent audio corruption problem on the phone line (are you using VoIP?) or because flow control on your modem is broken.

So take a look at your modem config file and if you're using "FlowControl: xonxoff" change that to rtscts or vice-versa. If that doesn't help then it's probably due to audio corruption on the line somewhere between you and the receiver, and you'll need to work with the telephone companies involved to clear it out.

Again, if you're using VoIP then this is no surprise.

Thanks,

Lee.
