[hylafax-users] Problem installing Hylafax - LibTIFF but LibTIFF is installed...

Hi,
Ok, I tried looking everywhere on my own prior to writing and am really frustrated.
I have been wanting to install HylaFax and just went through a nightmare getting my PCI modem configured and working on my fresh SuSE Linux 10.0 box.
I ran all available patch updates for my system, and then when trying to install the latest version, 4.4.4-1 the system barked about needing libc6 or something, which I thought was there.  Ok, so I tried the 4.3.x version, and this time I am getting "TIFF>= 3.5.5 is needed by hylafax..."
I downloaded and installed LibTIFF 3.8.3, even rebooted the machine, and still no joy :-(
Same error message.
Why is the install not "aware" I have the requisite software installed and how can I fix the problem?
