Re: [hylafax-users] Recipient not receiving faxes

I'm using Hylafax to send faxes to a number of people. I have one person who is complaining that they receive only a few of the expected faxes.

Looking through the logs, I can find the faxes they say they're missing. Hylafax has these "missing" faxes shown as sent.

We're at a stalemate of sorts. He's pointing at his empty fax machine, and I'm pointing at my Hylafax logs saying "sent".

Could someone possible look over the below logfile of one of these missing faxes? I'm thinking there may be some error hidden in there I'm not catching that could explain this.

Feb 13 11:32:12.40: [16576]: SEND send EOP (no more pages or documents)

Feb 13 11:32:15.44: [16576]: --> [2:OK]
Feb 13 11:32:15.44: [16576]: SEND recv MCF (message confirmation)

The receiver's fax machine here is sending MCF. That's a confirmation that the page was received with acceptable quality. So if the receiver is not printing out that page, then that or the MCF was an error on the part of the receiver.

However, understand that you're using HylaFAX 4.1.8. There may have been some kind of Phase C bug on HylaFAX's part that is the catalyst for the problem on the receive-side. So upgrading HylaFAX may fix that. Furthermore, the receiver supports ECM which is supported in Class 1 in modern releases. When using ECM you have a much greater assurance that the receiver actually gets the image you sent because of the intent and design of that protocol. So simply upgrading to use ECM may also avoid triggering the receiver's problem.

Thanks,

Lee.
