[hylafax-users] Hylafax not answering

Hi,

I’ve been struggling with this for a little while and I’m about to break my skull against my desk.

I am unable to get the server to answer an incoming call.   Here’s what I’ve done:

1.)    Install Hylafax on CentOS 5.1 – completed without error

2.)    Run faxsetup – completed without error

3.)    Run faxaddmodem – completed without error

4.)    Use minicom to test /dev/ttyS0 – AT commands function properly, can get dialtone, can dial number

5.)    When I try to use command #faxgetty /dev/ttyS0, the command hangs. I have to CTRL-C to end it.

6.)    When I use faxstat I get “Server running” “ttyS0: initializing server” but nothing else.  If I run faxgetty again and then CTRL-C out of the hang, it changes to “ttyS0: waiting for modem to come free”

7.)    Mgetty does the same type of hang on my device

8.)    FIFO.ttyS0 exists

9.)    The lock file for ttyS0 exists

10.) No log file for hylafax exists

11.) The log file for mgetty shows this:

“01/29 13:50:04 yS0  mgetty: interim release 1.1.33-Apr10

01/29 13:50:04 yS0  WARNING: parent process not init(pid=1), but pid=2899 (bash)

Please somebody, ask me a question I haven’t thought of or something. I’m freaking out over here.  I’ll be happy to provide any data I can.  I am not really a noob with linux but am definitely a noob with hylafax.

Thanks

Lucas
