Given what you've read it's a fair bet isn't it ?

Also ask yourself why you are bothering to test with the USR modem in 
the first place.... no one would consider that a good 'reference' modem.

If you focus on testing with fax machines and your MultiTech then you 
will be closer to your real world deployment which ultimately is all you 
realy care about.
