[hylafax-users] Any ideas?

My phone works... My broadband (ADSL) works.

Yet the fax is very unreliable right now. 50% of the time modem can't even 
train to 2k4 and it gives up.

Works fine on other lines.

Anyway contractor for the telephone company came out today and a few hours 
later came back and said there's a problem in the street with the underground 
cable, though he wasn't clear on what the problem was.

Does anyone here have any idea what could cause this?
