[hylafax-users] 'No response to PPS repeated 3 times' error

I'm having some problems sending multiple page faxes with HylaFAX.
I'm running version 4.3.1 on a Gentoo system with gcc 4.1.2 with what 
looks a like a brand-less serial modem.  It has "G3 14.4K send/receive" 
on the bottom.

Usually the first page is sent successfully, then the fax aborts with 
the error: 'No response to PPS repeated 3 times'.

I've done some searching and tried keeping the speed at 9600 with no luck.

Any suggestions?  I can post a log file if necessary.
