I am sure, but the problems is that I have one instalation with external serial modems and I have many problems, I want to try one alternative (I suspect from serial port) because I am using the same modem in other instalations and don't have any problem.

a lot of USB modems are software modems, or WinModems, and thus will
not work well for faxing.  I've heard that serial modems on a
usb-serial adapter work, but I've never tried one and it may depend on
the quality of the adapter.

your best bet for multiline faxing really is a board design for faxing
