[hylafax-users] IAXmodem what is wrong

I am planning to setup quite huge fax system. It will be based on Asterisk Hylafax, and IAXmodem. After months of testing I am still not convinced. I tested Asterisk and Hylafax before (but as standalone servers, never together) and I think they work very good. The problems occur when I am trying to connect these applications together in one server. It is not that they do not work at all, they just do not work appropriately.
When I am trying to send fax through IAXmodem to remote fax machine I can see that the quality of the page is poor. Not always but quite often. I tried that on two different servers and on three different phone lines. Also I have changed the remote fax machine.  Only thing which remains unchanged is the IAXmodem.
My question is:
What cause the poorness? Iaxmodem itself?

The configuration of the servers is as follows:
Intel server platform 2400SR
Intel Xeon CPU 2.80GHz
Sangoam a102 E1

I am running:
-- hylafax 4.4.0 from debian lenny,

I am attaching two log files. In this "test send" couple of pages where in bad quality, but due to RTN they were resend for the second time and then the quality was super fine. After 13th page I lost the connection but hylafax send the rest of document one more time.
I will repeat my question. What cause the poorness and what can I do to send the page in good quality but in the first attempt.
