Hi, I got a problem with my setup. About 20% of my faxes are received with missing lines on the pages. For example, I receive a fax of 4 pages. In these 4 pages, the first is complete up to the half of the page, the second has the same problem, the third is complete but the fourth is suffering from the same problem. I do have a log for this case, but I will put it at the bottom of this message. You will notice that I don't receive all the expected lines, but I can't figure out why. Another example, which is a more common problem to me, is I receive a fax of 3 pages. The first is complete, the second is only complete to the 3/4 of the page and the last is complete to the half. I don't have the log under my hand right now, but when I looked at it I have seen the number of received row/lines getting lower and lower every page. I use a very old setup, HylaFAX 4.1.5 on Slackware 8.1. I got 3 Multitech 5634-NV-ZPX modems and the 2 problems occur on all of them. Upgrade is not an option, don't mention it. I would say there are 3 possibilities. First my modems got a wrong configuration that cause those problems. The second possibility would be a problem on my phone lines. The last one would be a problem on the land lines of our phone company or the client having a really bad fax machine. In the last case, I would not be able to do much. I don't think the problems are from outside sources because I get the problems with more than one of our clients. It still could be a land line problem, but 80% of my faxes are fine. I don't want to rule out this possibility, but it's unlikely. As for my own phone lines, we switch to a T1 2 months ago. I am not sure if my fax lines have been moved to the T1, but we had no problem until 2 weeks ago. If the lines have been switched to the T1, this could likely be the core of my problem. I think the problems are more likely caused by our lines setup, but I want to know first if everything looks fine with my fax log. If I can rule out the modems and HylaFAX then this will let me only one choice, testing the T1. Here is one of my configuration file for my modems ############ CountryCode: 1 AreaCode: 418 FAXNumber: +1.418.999.9999 LongDistancePrefix: 1 InternationalPrefix: 011 DialStringRules: etc/dialrules ServerTracing: 1 SessionTracing: 11 RecvFileMode: 0664 LogFileMode: 0600 DeviceMode: 0666 RingsBeforeAnswer: 1 SpeakerVolume: off GettyArgs: "" LocalIdentifier: "GNI Inc."
