Re: [hylafax-users] rockforce octo and multitech MultiModemISI

Hi Yohan,

Here’s my ‘unbiased’ answer to your question;

(1)   both products are based on the Agere Venus Chipset

(2)   RockForce products uniquely support SideBand reset which allows you to reset an individual port from the command line.  This is fully supported by the HylaFAX ‘wedge’ process and will be required in any high volume application.  The ISI solution to a ‘wedge’ is to power cycle the server.  Search hylafax.org for ‘wedging’ to see how big an issue this will be for you.

(3)   RockForce products are ‘half length’ which means they will fit into any PCI or PCI-X slot.  The ISI is a full length PCI card and so you need a ‘big’ server to fit them into.

(4)   RockForce products are compatible with all of the PCI specifications released from revision 2.0 to 3.0.  The ISI requires a PCI revision 2.2 or above compatible machine (get this wrong and the board will not even power up).

(5)   Mainpine are completely focused on fax hardware.  We actively test and certify all of the fax software that’s available on the market and have done so for the last 10 years;

(6)   Mainpine are truly innovative and release many new fax products.  Our unique PCI Express products feature a ‘half height’, ‘half length’ board profile which will fit into any system.  They also feature the latest LSI (Agere) chipset that’s dedicated to providing the greatest levels of fax support and compatibility.  Choosing a Mainpine solution will give you a seamless route to the future;

(7)   Mainpine actively support and test with HylaFAX and HylaFAX+.  How many other manufacturers do you see contributing to this list or supporting the developers ?

Our sales and support team would be very happy to discuss your requirements in detail.  They all have many years experience in the fax market and can tell you why it’s worth investing in the best products available.

Regards

Subject: [hylafax-users] rockforce octo and multitech MultiModemISI

need help,

I need to setup a fax server which sending about 1000 faxes/day (1-2 page/fax), no receiving.

Does anyone know the difference or has experience with rockforce octo+ and multitech multimodem isi 5634UPCI/8?

The price of those two product on shop.ifax.com are $1,639.00 (rockforce) and  $862.00 (multitech)
Why multitech just about half price of rockforce since these two modems has the same functionality?

Anyone could give a review or explanation about these two products?

Thanks
