Thanks for the logs, they are very helpful.

What happens when you power-cycle the computer and modem ?  If the modem is
'wedged' every time you restart the system then the problem is almost
certainly with your modem installation - go back and check your installation
using the tests described in the modem user manual.  If the problem happens
occasionally then it's probably a modem firmware issue - ask the modem
manufacturer if they are aware of any problems and whether you have the
latest firmware.

What does it mean, MODEM /dev/ttyS0 appears to be wedged  ??
