Thanks for the advice.

I have tried your suggestion of upgrading ghostscript and it worked!  I used
the espgs-8.15.2 version as it came with an fc4 rpm spec file.

Thanks again and thanks to all those who have contributed to making Hylafax
such a great package.

The problem is that Ghostscript doesn't have the font or can't use the 
embedded font.  Ghostscript can use substitute fonts.  I would first 
suggest an upgrade to 8.56 and then try again.  8.56 solved a lot of 
issues like this for me.
