This is another example of users rushing into conclusions, the files I got corrupted were those copied by avantfax, the originals received by hylafax are just fine, my apologies for wasting your time will keep the recommendations just in case, btw, by fresh I meant air conditioning was on while installing,

Well to begin I would suggest you set ServerTracing and SessionTracing to
0xFFF in the config file and post the full output here.
It would also help if you told us which version of HylaFAX you are using,
your modem make, model, and firmware version, and your Telco setup (analog
POTS, VoIP, T1, etc). It's amazing how peoples definition of a 'fresh
installation' varies.
