you were absolutly right. I've set the PageChop parameter to 'none' and now the problem seem to be solved.

Is the sending machine a HylaFAX server? If so, check the setting of PageChop (man hylafax-config). This isn't likely something that can be changed in the receiver side - you're just receiving the image data as it was prepared and transmitted to you.
