I have never seen this kind of behavior before.  You are dialing, you 
connect with a receiver, and then you hear the EOP signal (which is an 
end-of-procedure signal sent by fax senders only).  Are you sure that 
you don't have phone lines crossed somehow?  Please double-check your 
connections and watch what's going on in your Asterisk CLI.
