I would like to set up the communication over an SSL
tunnel for security.  

Does the remote need to communicate to the local server 
over a single port or does it use different ports?

1. Make sure your server is configured to listen on an IP address that 
the client can connect to (almost certainly done by default, as it 
should be listening on all addresses on your box).
2. sendfax [other options you may use] -h ip.of.server.system
